God can use different means to touch hearts.
It may be of interest to people reaching Mainland Chinese to know that Dr. Bing-Cheng Feng, the author of Song of a Wanderer, a book that probably most of you have used, was greatly helped in coming to Christ by the book Beyond Death’s Door. This documents near death experiences by Maurice Rawlings, a Christian cardiologist. [Unlike many books on this theme, Rawlings writes that about half of the NDE’s are an experience of someone having a very negative experience. In fact Rawlings himself came to Christ as an atheist doctor after being "scared straight" when resuscitating a patient who begged him to pray for him and pull him back, since he believed he was in hell.] Whatever we believe about these experiences, that book is 1.) a good antidote to those who say all NDE’s are very pleasant, and heaven awaits anyone, no matter what one believed and did; and 2.) for the Mainland Chinese materialists it should get their attention and make them doubt their belief that the material world is all there is. The Mainland Chinese Lit. Ministry of AFC, from which I retired a few months ago at 71 years -- Jared Spangenberg ably continues that ministry -- had this book in simplified script Chinese, but it is out of print. They still have a few copies yet and have permission from the author to make photocopies. But Feng Bing-Cheng in Song of a Wanderer tells adequately about this book. You can read what he says here: http://www.oc.org/web/modules/tadbook2/view.php?book_sn=1&bdsn=15&fullscreen= MC Lit. has distributed worldwide over 1.3 million of Song of a Wanderer. The appeal of a Chinese atheist recounting what convinces him now that Christianity is true, is worth considering for non-Chinese students as well. Both Chinese and English versions are available from Mainl. Chin. Lit. Min. 888-999-7959, [email protected]. It has also had in Chinese the best-seller 90 Minutes in Heaven, by Don Piper. The Chinese is out of print now, but it may be reprinted. The CS Lewis Narnia series, which was mentioned in that COM article, has been published legally in China. Here children are growing up knowing English better, but parents are often looking to keep their kids in the Chinese language. And the parents can enjoy them. Though in the AFC bookstore, MC Lit. Min. can supply those also. To let people know about this and other great books that are available published legally and available both here and in China, you can request a list of ones they recommend with titles in Chinese and English.
